Comfortable, relaxing and unique

Points positifs : Rachel was a brilliant host and made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast every morning was amazing and we really enjoyed looking at all of the antiques. We’d love to return.

Wonderful place, wonderful host and great location

Points positifs : Wonderful little palais in Colmar, with an equally wonderful host (Rachel) who made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and throughout our stay. Our room was lovely and clean, while breakfast was an experience in itself you will have to try yourself. Suffice to say, our entire stay was unique and Rachel spent time with us providing tips and directions on places to visit and things to do in the area around Colmar. Great location, just a few minutes away from the train station and the town centre. Bonus points for private parking, which was a great addition. I don't normally say this, but I would give 11 if I could, but I have to limit myself to a 10 :-). I would absolutely go back to the Castelnau next time I'm back in Colmar.

Points positifs : Rachel was an excellent host and made our stay in Colmar extremely enjoyable. We will not forget our amazing breakfasts on the terrace! Castelnau was in a perfect location for walking into Colmar and close to the train and bus station for exploring surrounding villages.

Points positifs : This is a private stay in the hostess's house. The house is decorated in a very, very special way and we loved it. The hostess (owner) is very, very nice and welcoming. The breakfast is excellent and served in very beautiful and special dishes. The location is perfect and close to the old center.

Points négatifs : The toilet and shower are in the room and are separated only by a fabric curtain, which may not suit everyone. There is an option for a regular toilet outside the room.

Points positifs : I loved how well cared for we were by our host Rachel, she made us feel so welcome, went to a lot of trouble with preparing breakfasts every morning ( we were at her home for one week). Rachel uses all her various antique dishes to set the table differently each day. A lovely fire going nearby made it so warm and cosy. Rachel is an artist and interior designer and loves to present her guests with a beautiful experience, a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful ambiance! Built in 1900, her beautiful old home has high ceilings and surrounds you with old world French Alsacienne charm. Just what we were hoping for!

Points négatifs : The cute old world bathroom inside the guest bedroom has only a curtain for privacy, but not so bad once you get used to it. Also in the evening if you wanted to watch a little TV, there were no channels in English.

Points positifs : Extraordinary experience. Excellent breakfast, comfortable room, very convenient location. Rachel is super kind, organised and attentive.

Definitely in our top 5 stays over the last 6 years of holidaying in France.

Points positifs : Expectations were high after reading all the very favourable reviews when booking but I can honestly say our stay at Castelnau was the best and most memorable of the 6 properties we stayed in over our 3 week Tour de France. This was mainly down to Rachel, the most charming and wonderful host you could hope for. The breakfasts were above & beyond, lots of quirky but fun elements to the interior - wasn’t our first time to experience the shower/toilet combo in the boudoir and in fairness Rachel had pointed it out when booking. Can’t say enough about Rachel, just an amazing lady who made us feel so at home.

Points positifs : Our stay was amazing and Rachel is very hospital and exceptional. The room was very pretty and the breakfast perfect. We will come back again surely!!
